Speedometer

Speedometer uses continuous GPS updates to show current speed and calculate distance traveled, maximum speed, and average speed. It is a live utility and does not create markers, drafts, or saved history.

Steps

1. Under Utilities on Home, select Speedometer.
2. If prompted, allow location access while using the app.
3. Move steadily in an open area and wait for the main reading to update.
4. Read distance traveled, maximum speed, and average speed below the dial.

Statistics

• Current Speed: The latest valid speed supplied by location services.
• Distance Traveled: Movement accumulated from valid location points after opening the screen.
• Maximum Speed: The highest valid speed received while the screen is open.
• Average Speed: Accumulated distance divided by the elapsed span of valid location samples.

The current statistics reset after you leave Speedometer. The utility does not request background location access.

Units

Current, maximum, and average speed follow More → Units → Speed Units. Distance traveled follows your distance-unit preference.

Limitations

Speed is a Core Location estimate, not a vehicle instrument or certified speed measurement. Low speed, stationary use, GPS drift, tunnels, and tall buildings can cause delays or abnormal values. Do not operate the phone while driving.
